Note before reading this article:
In a product update on 3/14/2023,
Projects were renamed to Opportunities
Campaigns were renamed to Initiatives.
Over the last weeks, the Engineering Team has been hard at work to develop a couple of great new features for VOMO that will be helpful for both our Volunteer and Admin Users!
Tagging (skills, gifts, talents, etc.)
We created an intuitive, yet flexible tagging system to help us introduce Skills-based Volunteering and eventually matching of Users and Projects! We call this feature Tagging so that it can encompass more than just lists of skills as some users will put in strengths, talents, gifts, etc. as they look for ways to get involved in their community. Think of it like social media hashtags that people share to attach themselves or their content to! Below are some screenshots of what to look for in a few places.
On the Admin side, you will notice that there is a new section that says Add Tags. Here you can search the list of pre-populated skills to attach to a Project, or if we don't have that Tag yet you can create your own so that others can use it too! As you start typing you will notice that it searches the list of Tags. You can add up to 20.
When you add some Tags to the Project, the Project Page will look like this. Notice that if a Tag on the Project matches a Tag in your Profile it will turn VOMO Blue instead of Green!
The User Profile was updated with a simpler image input to allow for a better flow of Profile Data. Underneath the new Causes section is the My Tags section where Users will add Tags to their Profile from the same list the Projects can be tagged. Remember that if that Tag does not already exist, you can create it for others to use!
Org Calendar View.
On the Admin Dashboard Homepage there is now a link to the Calendar next to the Hub and Profile links. This will help Admin users see this new feature next time they login.
When you click on the link to go to the Calendar you will notice that there is a new link in the top section next to "Hub" and "About" that users can click to see Serving Dates listed on a monthly calendar. We added in a great color coding option as well to help make this super usable for people to see what is Open and what they have Joined (for example).
When you click on a Calendar Event, the Preview Card has a link to the Project Page, as well as the similar data that is on Hub Preview Cards. Rodger even put in something special for the Admins with that Edit pencil!
3. CRM Integration Tweaks. We are #alwaysimproving, and we found a couple of things that were causing duplications of data in our CRM Integrations. The changes help make sure that when both Admin and Volunteer Users interact on VOMO that the data that gets passed through the integrations is more reliable.
