Managing and verifying participation volunteer hours is necessary to make sure Volunteer profiles reflect correct and up top date data. In VOMO, you have a few options as to how hours are verified. This article will review the different layers of verification and how to set them on each Opportunity.
Initial Setting Implementation
As an Admin, you can set the Global setting to dictate how your Organization will verify volunteer hours. Navigate to your Org Settings.
Scroll to the bottom and select "Show Advanced Options".
Here, you can select which level of Verification you'd like to set as a blanket setting for your VOMO platform.
Global Settings
- Off by Default
- Volunteer Hours do not need to be verified by default, but this can be modified to require verification per Opportunity
- On by Default
- Volunteer Hours are required to be verified by default, but this can be modified to not require verification per Opportunity
- Always Required
- Volunteer Hours must be verified and this option cannot be modified when creating an Opportunity
- NOTE: If you have active Opportunities with future serving times, this setting will apply to these serving times as well.
Verification Methods
- Manually Verify Participation
- This option means a VOMO user will be required to manually verify each Volunteer's Hours.
- Use Check-In Time to Verify Participation
- This option means a Volunteer's hours will be verified once they have checked in for their serving date.
- Use Check-In Time + Check Out Time to Verify Participation
- This option means a Volunteer's hours will be verified once they have checked in and checked out for their serving date. This option provides a stricter requirement.
After you have made any necessary changes to your Organization Settings, be sure to select "Update Organization Info" in to top right corner of the screen to save your selections.
Management Per Opportunity
When creating each Opportunity you can select which Verification method to associate with the specific Opportunity. Provided your global settings allow, you can check the box for "Require volunteer hours verification?"
Then, you can select which level of verification management to apply for the specific Opportunity.
After you have made your changes, be sure to select "Update Opportunity" in to top right corner of the screen to save your selections.
NOTE: If an Admin user changes the Verification settings of a specific Opportunity AFTER serving times have ended, it will then update all past serving times to match the new settings.
